Unico Willem van Wassenaer: Concerto Armonico no 3 A major (Kimito Island Music Festival 13.7.2013)

Kreeta-Maria has a keenness for teaching and tutoring quite obviously running in the family. This has spurred her on to work as lecturer for violin in the Länsi-Helsinki school of music and as a Baroque violin lecturer at the Sibelius Academy.

She currently teaches at the Novia University of Applied Sciences in Pietarsaari together with harpsichordist Petteri Pitko. Their students are professional musicians who wish to familiarize themselves with playing period instruments and early music.

During the three-year Bachelor’s degree, the students get to know different styles of early music through practical work, in the guidance of Kreeta-Maria and Petteri Pitko. The course is tailored for professional musicians so that they are able to complete their studies while working. The course includes weekend sessions where the students and teachers gather in Campus Allegro in Pietarsaari, playing together, contemplating style issues, studying relevant literary sources, and practising music pieces for performances. The students and teachers of the course tour actively around Finland either as the Barock Ostrobothnia orchestra or in smaller ensembles.
